Spiritual awareness can make you more attentive to subtle things.
You notice synchronicities. Changes in your mood. Repeated numbers. Dreams. Certain conversations. A sudden feeling in your body.
But there is an important skill that often gets overlooked:
Spiritual discernment.
Not every heavy feeling is a warning.
Not every coincidence is instruction.
Not every thought is intuition.
And not every uncomfortable moment means something is energetically wrong.
Sometimes the most useful thing you can do is observe first and interpret later.
Why Spiritual Discernment Matters
When we immediately assign meaning to every feeling or coincidence, we can accidentally reinforce fear, expectation, or assumptions.
A difficult conversation becomes a “sign.”
A strange mood becomes a warning.
A repeated number becomes an instruction to make a decision.
But there may be other explanations worth considering.
You may be tired.
You may be emotionally activated by something that happened earlier.
You may be repeating a familiar behavioral pattern.
You may simply be noticing something because your attention has become focused on it.
Discernment does not mean dismissing spiritual experiences.
It means creating enough space to ask better questions.
Observation Comes Before Interpretation
One of the simplest ways to strengthen spiritual discernment is to separate what happened from what you think it means.
For example:
Observation: “I felt anxious after that conversation.”
Interpretation: “The Universe is warning me about this person.”
Those are two very different statements.
The first describes your experience.
The second assigns meaning to it.
Before moving to interpretation, spend a little more time with the observation.
A Simple 4-Step Spiritual Discernment Practice
Use this process whenever something feels especially meaningful, intense, or unusual.
1. OBSERVE
What actually happened?
Describe the event without adding meaning.
For example:
“I received a message and immediately felt tense.”
2. RECORD
Write down the time, situation, thought, emotion, and what happened immediately before the shift.
This helps prevent your memory from changing the story later.
3. COMPARE
Ask whether something similar has happened before.
Does this emotion appear around the same type of conversation?
Does your energy shift around a similar time?
Do you react the same way when you are tired, stressed, or overwhelmed?
4. INTERPRET
Only after observing and comparing should you ask what the experience might mean to you.
And even then, you do not need to force a conclusion.
Sometimes the answer is simply:
“I need more information.”
TRY THIS TODAY: Fact vs. Meaning
Take one experience from today that felt emotionally or spiritually significant.
Create two columns in your phone:
WHAT HAPPENED
and
WHAT I THINK IT MEANS
Keep them separate.
Then ask:
- Have I experienced this before?
- Was there a clear trigger?
- Does this happen during similar circumstances?
- Am I reacting to the present moment or to an old pattern?
- What information do I still not have?
This small practice can make spiritual awareness much more grounded.
Where Leak Hour™ Fits In
This distinction between observation and interpretation is also important within Leak Hour™.
Your Leak Hour™ is not intended to make you suspicious of a particular time of day.
It is a personalized observation window.
If a thought, emotion, distraction, interaction, or behavior appears repeatedly during or around that window, the repetition itself becomes worth noticing.
But the first question is not:
“What does this spiritually mean?”
The first question is:
“Is there actually a pattern here?”
Patterns Give Context to Signs
A single experience can feel powerful.
A repeated experience gives you context.
That is why tracking can be so useful.
When you begin recording timing, triggers, emotions, and behaviors, you may discover that something you thought was random actually repeats.
Or you may discover the opposite: what felt like a major sign happened only once and never returned.
Both discoveries are valuable.
You Don’t Need to React to Every Sign
Spiritual discernment is not about becoming less intuitive.
It is about becoming more intentional with what you notice.
You can acknowledge a coincidence without acting on it.
You can feel an emotion without assuming it predicts something.
You can notice a pattern without immediately deciding what it means.
Sometimes clarity comes from waiting long enough to see what repeats.
You don’t always need another sign.
Sometimes you need enough distance to recognize the pattern.
